  • Dealer: Amazon.com.

  • Capacity: 3,000 milli-amp hours (mAh), enough capacity to fully recharge a 1,440-mAh iPhone 5 twice.
  • Size & Weight: 3.6 inches tall by 1.2 inches wide by 0.8 inches thick and weighing 2.5 ounces, making it one of the smallest portable batteries on the market with this amount of capacity.
  • Amperage: a single 2.1 amps output, allowing it to recharge low-power devices like older smartphones and MP3 players as well as high-power devices like current-generation smartphones and tablets, including devices that use Apple Lightning chargers.

It includes a four LED-light display to indicate how much charge remains in the device and a sensor that allows it to charge devices at the fastest possible speed up to 2 amps.

Unlike some other portable chargers on the market, it also includes a set of circuits that automatically disable charging if something goes wrong, ensuring that it will not accidentally damage your device.

PocketCell Frequently Asked Questions

faq  “Does this support all USB devices?”

Almost. Most devices which can be charged using a USB cable are supported, but a few devices won’t charge unless you connect them to a computer, such as some eReaders and GPS devices. If you can charge your device from a USB wall plug or a car USB port, the PocketCell will almost certainly work.

faq  “How long will it take to charge the PocketCell, and how long will take the PocketCell to charge my device?”

The PocketCell can be charged at a maximum of 1.5 amps and has a capacity of 3 amp hours (3,000 mAh), so at maximum speed it will take about two hours to charge (3 amp hours divided by 1.5 amp hours per hour). If you charge it from an older computer or adapter which only supports 1.0 amps, it will take about three hours to charge.

The time it will take to charge your device varies by your device’s maximum charging speed (in amps) and its capacity (in amp hours). For an iPhone 5, the maximum speed is 2.0 amps and capacity is 1.44 amp hours, so you should be able to fully charge your iPhone in about 45 minutes (1.44 divided by 2.0 and multiplied by 60 minutes).

faq  “Can this charge a laptop or even a netbook?”

Laptops and netbooks cannot be charged using USB, and even if they could, this device only outputs 5 volts, which is far lower than necessary to charge any device larger than a tablet.

More than twice the capacity of the original PocketCell but still small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, the PocketCell Duo provides enough power to recharge today’s higher-capacity devices as well as an additional USB plug so you can charge two devices at the same time.

  • Capacity: 6,800 mAh, enough capacity to fully recharge an iPhone 5 more than four times—however, it’s only enough to half charge a 11,666-mAh iPad 3.
  • Size & Weight: 3.7 inches tall by 1.7 inches wide by 0.9 inches thick and weighing 4.7 ounces, making this portable battery only slightly larger than the original PocketCell despite having more than twice the capacity.
  • Amperage: two 2.1-amp outputs, allowing it to up recharge two high-power devices at the same time.

Like the original PocketCell, the Duo also includes a four LED-light display to indicate the amount of remaining charge and protects your devices by using a set of circuits that disables charging if anything goes wrong.

Both the original and Duo are currently only available in white with silver highlights—giving them a sleek modern look.

PocketCell Dou Frequently Asked Questions

faq  “How many Magic Cable Trios does the PocketCell Duo include?”

Even though the PocketCell Duo has two USB charging ports, it only includes one cable. You can use the other charging port with any other USB charging cable.

faq  “How many times can I recharge the PocketCell Duo before it dies?”

At least 500 times, which is the industry standard for Lithium-Ion batteries. Lithium-Ion batteries also wear out over time, so it will probably stop holding a full charge after about four to five years, and will steadily become less effective as time goes on.

faq  “Does the Magic Cable Trio charge devices at full speed?”

It depends on the device. Although the cable supports charging at full speed, some devices have a lockout which prevents them from charging at full speed unless you use the manufacturer’s cable. If you notice that you device does not charge at full speed with the Magic Cable Trio, simply connect the manufacturer’s cable to the PocketCell Duo and your device should charge at the speed you’re used to.

Included Accessory: USB Magic Cable Trio

innergie-cables

Both the PocketCell and the PocketCell Duo include a special USB cable, the USB Magic Cable Trio. This short cable includes three inter-changeable tips that allow you to charge most portable devices.

  • A mini-USB cable that fits many older USB devices, or devices where space is not much of an issue.
  • A micro-USB cable that fits most Android smartphones and tablets, as well as a wide variety of other devices. This is probably the most common connector for portable devices today.
  • A 30-pin Apple cable that fits iPhones up to the 4S as well as many iPods and older iPads. This connector does not work with the iPhone 5 and other Apple Lightning devices, but you can still use your lightning cord with either the PocketCell or PocketCell Duo.

The cable tips aren’t just interchangeable, but they also stay connected to each other no matter what cable you use, so you won’t accidentally lose a cable tip.
